Krishi Mitra
A WhatsApp assistant for farmers
A 24-hour build at the InnovateYou hackathon, with Shubham Gupta and Prajwal Shinde, representing skitre.ai. Farmers already use WhatsApp. Krishi Mitra meets them there, in Marathi.
Problem
Schemes, subsidies, and what to plant next are scattered. A new app is another thing to learn. WhatsApp is already how people text, send a photo, and share a place.
What we built
A farmer answers a few questions — concern, location, land, budget — and the bot looks up matching subsidies, with official links, contacts, and how to apply.
A photo of a sick plant comes back with the disease, the cause, and what to do about it.
The crop planner uses location, land size, budget, and the weather forecast to suggest what to grow.
The hackathon version ran in Marathi. A farmer can send a voice note, and the reply can be read aloud.
